The couple met in their freshman biology class at Eastern Mennonite University. Brad sat in front of Danielle. She noticed that he had a ring on his ring finger and the girl he was hanging out with also had a ring on. Being the bold person Danielle was at that time, her first words to Brad were: “are you married?” His answer was simply “no, this is my purity ring”. Brad and Danielle became fast friends although they had no romantic interest. It wasn’t until Danielle saw him interact with his sisters that she knew he was the guy for her.
Brad proposed to Danielle on a beach in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (about 20 minutes from her hometown). He took her out for dinner and up the CN Tower. Then they went for a walk along the beach on a cool summer evening. They were sitting on some rocks watching the sail boats at sunset. When she turned around to look at Brad he had knelt down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
